Farewell

However courage and will power Kassia had, the truth is, it may not be enough when we talk about cancer. And her cancer was very aggressive… she was strong up to where she could, but, on the second half of 2019 the fight seemed to be coming to an end. Kassia knew that… even with her determination she, sometimes, felt down. Nobody is a superwoman, neither was she…

With her fortieth birthday coming closer, in October, the whole family - including her sister and her nephews, and Ricardo’s parents - travelled to a resort in Mexico.

It was a happy week for everyone. Even with unsteady legs, Kassia swam in the ocean and enjoyed a lot the beach with her daughters. When she came back, talking to me excitedly about the trip, she told me with her usual honesty: “It was amazing Dani! It was really a farewell!”. And I swallowed my wish to tell her to stop saying those things.

Shortly before Christmas, Kassia welcomed her father and her brother. She said it was really good talking to them… that she needed it, specially with her father. Their visit was really good for her and she was happy! By the way, Kassia valued her feelings. Several times I heard from her: “I am happy”.
